The present tech that we have consists of our prized possessions, the DJI Phantom 2, 3D printer, Sony Exmor R, Kodak PixPro 360 camera, Ilook camera and our Parrot Bebop . The DJI Phantom 2 will be thoroughly used. The DJI Phantom is used for collecting photos and videos of trees for data. The 3D printer is used to create gimbals and parts that we need for our drones. The 3d printer is one of the biggest part of our projects. We are able to create different designs and release them to the public. We can make and find so many things to help our project along with the community. Already we have made all different types of gimbels and differnt things that is going to make it easier to check the health of trees. Obviously, the drones play an important role in our projects. When you look at a tree from the ground, you only see a small part of what could really be happening to the tree. From the bottom it could look very healthy, but if you get up higher and closer different insects and holes could be found. Our cameras are essential to our plan . With the 360 camera and VR goggles we can look around and get and first hand view of the canopy.
Our latest technology is our new Mite Shaker. We created a prototype out of just a plastic container and some legos. We now have a 3d printed version of it. The mite shaker works by filling the container of predatory mites, that we are breeding, to go out and kill spider mites. These spider mites harm the trees by eating away at them and giving them diseases that can be harmful. These predatory mites don’t bother humans, but they feed on the spider mites.
